Sleep Studies for Children & Adult
Sleep is a crucial aspect of every living being on earth.  During sleep, body and brain repair themselves to prepare for next day's activities, including learning, problem solving, memorizing, and critical judgment processes. These are critical functions of the brain which are impaired due to poor quality and quantity of sleep. Children are more affected by poor quality sleep as their brain is developing at young age..
Sleep apnea is common in both adult and children. It is defined as closure of airway during sleep which results in fluctuation of oxygen resulting in interrupted sleep. Sleep study or polysomnography is considered the gold standard test for diagnosis of sleep apnea and other breathing difficulties during sleep. These require overnight stay in the sleep lab.

We conduct sleep studies to diagnose breathing  difficulties during sleep along with other sleep related disorders such as periodic leg movements, etc. We have established a 4 bed sleep lab staffed with qualified personnel who will work with you to formulate an individualized treatment plan to ensure the best quality of sleep possible. Please call us to get more information about sleep studies.

Spirometry
Spirometry or lung function is a commonly used test to assess lung health and progress or improvement of the lung diseases. The test requires certain degree of understanding and co-operation with the testing procedure but repeated testing children of young age are generally able to perform the test. The test is simple and can be performed easily in the clinic on a regular basis. It requires blowing into a machine in specific manner and the machine subsequently calculates the rate of air that is expired. There are normative data that patient values can be compared with.  Generally, children 6 years and above can perform the test.
